RWTH Aachen University is converting its telephone system to modern VoIP technology. The goal is to completely replace the existing Alcatel digital telephone system by January 31, 2026, at the latest. With the shutdown of the old system, the existing fax and UMS services will also no longer be available.
We recommend that all institutions use the remaining time to switch their processes to modern and secure communication channels. Signed and, where necessary, encrypted emails will replace the previous fax and UMS functions in the future. These offer reliable, flexible, and secure communication options that meet current requirements.
Please check early on which fax or UMS services you currently use and plan the changeover accordingly. This will ensure that your communications continue to function smoothly even after the switch-off.
