The IT Center officially inaugurated the High Performance Computer CLAIX-2023 with a ceremony on October 23, 2024. The system, equipped with an energy-efficient water cooling system, is available to researchers at RWTH and all German universities nationwide. This sustainable cooling system significantly reduces energy consumption compared to conventional air conditioning systems.
The CLAIX-2023 offers enormous computing power for AI and simulation applications and supports numerous scientific disciplines. With 14 PFLOPS of computing capacity and specialized servers for AI applications, it marks a significant step forward in the field of high-performance computing. The installation of CLAIX-2025 is already being planned to meet increasing demand.
The supercomputer is supported by NHR4CES and WestAI, which particularly promote engineering and natural sciences as well as machine learning.
Further information on high-performance computing at RWTH and CLAIX-2023 can be found on the HPC Landing Page.
