Prof. Dr. Matthias S. Müller, Director of the IT Center at RWTH Aachen University, is the new Chair of the Association for National High Performance Computing (NHR). He succeeds Prof. Dr. Christian Plessl.
Prof. Müller previously served as Vice Chair and Chair of the NHR Operators Committee, bringing many years of experience to his new role. As Chair, Prof. Müller is responsible for strategic leadership, external representation, and coordination between the NHR Centers and funding agencies.
The NHR Association was founded in 2021 by the eight NHR Centers that existed at the time and serves to consolidate and coordinate their joint activities. RWTH Aachen University, represented by the IT Center, has been part of the National High Performance Computing (NHR) Network since 2020 and is one of the association’s founding members.
The goal of the NHR Association is to provide researchers at German universities with needs-based access to High Performance Computing resources through a science-driven allocation process. In addition, the association strengthens methodological expertise in scientific High Performance Computing, promotes training and continuing education programs, and supports the further development of High Performance Computing in Germany.
We warmly congratulate Prof. Müller on his appointment and wish him every success in his new role.
