Following a successful pilot phase, Microsoft Azure has officially been available in supervised productive operation at RWTH Aachen University since January 2025.
Cloud Services for More Flexibility
Microsoft Azure is a comprehensive cloud computing platform that is used at RWTH for “Platform as a Service” (PaaS) and “Infrastructure as a Service” (IaaS).
Azure supports a wide range of applications, including infrastructure services, databases, storage solutions and AI applications such as OpenAI and Power Virtual Agents.
Use and Access
All RWTH institutions have the option to use Microsoft Azure, provided that they have gone through the access process. Access is granted via a structured admission process.
Services are ordered and billed via the IT Center's own “SeviRe” portal, which guarantees a transparent cost overview.
Detailed instructions on the access process, how to use and further information on Microsoft Azure can be found on our services and on the IT Center Help. If you have any questions, please contact the IT-ServiceDesk.
