Our Profile
As the central IT facility of RWTH Aachen University, the IT Center has been synonymous with quality in a wide variety of areas for over 60 years. The IT Center supports the university’s teaching and research activities and central processes, and provides basic and customized services to the university’s departments.
Digitalization, the cloud, security, and the associated IT infrastructure—we encounter these terms in the media every day. At the IT Center, you’ll be right at the forefront of these developments and can make a real difference in these areas. We work with the latest technologies, making us a successful IT service provider. Your Profile
- A successfully completed bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and enrollment in a consecutive program
- Solid knowledge of C++ programming
- Some practical experience in software or game development (highly valued)
- Enthusiasm for developing virtual reality (VR) applications
- Strong interest in the intersection of social psychology, kinesiology, or the modeling of human behavior
- Familiarity with the Unreal Engine (Blueprints and/or C++) is a plus
- Experience with other game engines, such as Unity, is desirable
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and animation is a plus
- Skills in asset creation, optimization, or processing motion capture data are especially welcome
- Reliable and independent work ethic
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Your Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in the development and expansion of VR environments in Unreal Engine for research projects in the field of crowd and pedestrian simulation
- Adapting and refining virtual scenarios, characters, and animations to realistically depict human behavior and gaze patterns
- Assisting with the integration of eye-tracking systems as well as the preparation and conduct of VR experiments
- Collaborating on the collection, processing, and analysis of data from studies on human gaze and interaction behavior
- Assisting with the maintenance and further development of the research environment as well as collaborating with research staff
What We Offer
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 1 year.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 16,80€ per Hour, Starting October 1, 2026 17.60€ per hour.
