What NFDI4Ing is all about
Data are 21st century’s new oil. NFDI4Ing brings together all engineering research communities and fosters the management of their research data. The consortium NFDI4Ing makes research data sustainably accessible in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Re-usable), i.e., in citable form and under licenses that are as free as possible.
Who is behind NFDI4Ing
Eight universities and three non-university research institutions are backing NFDI4Ing. Leading engineering scientists are working together with experienced infrastructure providers in an open, dynamic, and highly efficient team. In addition to the (co-)applicants, over 40 participating institutions are also involved in the consortium.
What NFDI4Ing does
NFDI4Ing focuses on three thing
- data literacy education and training starting from the beginnings of the scientific career, if possible
- developing and testing a governance concept for the handling of research data
- ensuring broad availability of technologies and services for machine-actionable data and its metadata
Where the IT Center is involved
The administrative office is an example of the IT Center's commitment to the German science system. Its main tasks are to support the team of spokespersons and to communicate with the funding body. In addition to organising the committee work as well as the cash flows of the consortium, the administrative office supports all Task Areas in their administrative, organisational and communicative activities.
