Beyond the provision of central IT services, the IT Center is engaged in application-oriented (research) projects. Our work is characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration with institutes, chairs and researchers at RWTH Aachen University, Forschungszentrum Jülich, as well as other research institutions worldwide and partners in industry.

Network Renewal

Today, communication networks represent a fundamental infrastructure of every university, on the basis of which a large part of the processes in research, teaching and administration are built. For RWTH Aachen University as a leading technical university and attractive employer, high-performance and future-proof communications networks are an important locational advantage. The aim of the project is to renew the active network technology in the university buildings at RWTH Aachen.

NFDI4Ing

NFDI4Ing is the National Research Data Infrastructure for Engineering Sciences. The consortium makes research data sustainably accessible in accordance with the FAIR principles, i.e., in citable form and under licenses that are as free as possible. The consortium is led by RWTH Aachen University, Prof. Robert H. Schmitt is the speaker. Half of the administrative office is located at the IT Centre in Aachen and the other half at the Technical University of Darmstadt.

NHR4CES

In NHR4CES (National High Performance Computing Center for Computational Engineering Science), RWTH Aachen University and Technical University Darmstadt join forces to combine their strengths in HPC applications, algorithms and methods, and the efficient use of HPC hardware. The goal is to create an ecosystem combining best practices of HPC and research data management to address questions that are of central importance for technical developments in economy and society.
