RWTH-E-Mail
The service "RWTH-E-Mail" is a supervised IT service of the IT Center, which supports the cross-organizational communication at RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University. For security reasons, incoming mail traffic is checked for viruses (malicious code) and SPAM. Outgoing mail traffic, on the other hand, is only checked for viruses.
The service includes the provision of e-mail functionality, calendar and appointment management functions, the routing of e-mail traffic to the institution's own e-mail systems, and appropriate anti-spam and anti-virus measures. In addition, deleted items (e.g., emails) from the mailbox over the last 28 days are retained.
The mailboxes of a mail domain are hosted on the central Exchange system operated by the IT Center. The accounts are provisioned by the Identity Management of the RWTH.
- Each RWTH student initially receives a private mailbox with 2 GB of storage space in the mail domain "@rwth-aachen.de".
- Every employee can request an e-mail address in the mail domain "@rwth-aachen.de" for private use.
- Administrators of an institution can assign e-mail addresses to accounts via a web interface (the MailAdm). In addition, other administrative tasks - such as assigning quota, managing mailing lists, and so on - can be performed within the mail domain. - can be performed within the mail domain.
- Institutions can apply for their own mail domain.
