Software Engineering Services (GitLab)
The service Software Engineering Services provides the tool GitLab. GitLab is an application for version management of programming code.
In addition to the main task of code management, other functionalities such as a simple issue tracking system, a wiki and code review options are also covered. GitLab thus supports developers in increasing the quality of the developed programme code.
Two differently licensed GitLab instances are provided at RWTH:
- The instance "git.rwth-aachen.de" is operated with a GitLab for Education licence and may only be used for the education of students and the development of non-profit open source software.
- The instance "git-ce.rwth-aachen.de" is subject to a community edition licence. It offers fewer functions than the GitLab for Education licence, but the licence conditions allow freer use.
