The IT Center provides a wide range of software products for the departments and their staff, as well as for students at RWTH. We strive to acquire software at favorable prices by bundling licenses for several institutions and concluding license agreements so that we can then pass this price advantage on to the institutions of RWTH Aachen University.
For these products, the IT Center takes care of:
The contractual matters with the respective companies
The license renewal of the software updates
The provision of the software updates
The IT Center usually pre-finances the license agreements. Subsequently, the license fees are allocated to the institutes according to the scope of use.
The network licenses are provided and monitored by one of our license servers.
Employees can order software for use at RWTH institutions. The prerequisite is the role "Bestellung IT" and, depending on the product, the specification of a PSP element in the order and payment process. Each organizational unit is also responsible for assigning the "Bestellung IT" role to one or more employees via role management.
Students can obtain software for use as part of their studies. The prerequisite is the status "Student" in the RWTH's Identity Management; no PSP elements need to be entered.
