Today, Telekom Deutschland GmbH has converted all ISDN connections to IP technology (VoIP) in the vicinity of RWTH Aachen University. This change can have an effect on the functionality of fax machines.

What does this mean for members of RWTH Aachen University?

Since Telekom is the telephone line operator of RWTH Aachen University, it is possible that fax machines are affected here in the home.

In order to avoid possible disturbances (e.g. interruption of fax transmission), it is recommended to set the data transmission rate at the fax machines to a fixed value of 9,600 baud or 9,600 or 9.6kbit/s. The data transmission rate should be set to a fixed value of 9,600 baud or 9,600 or 9.6kbit/s. The data transmission rate should be set to the maximum value of 9.6kbit/s. The respective fax machine operators in the facilities must make the corresponding settings manually.
