Documentation Portal becomes IT Center Help

What began a good six years ago will take on a new shape on 23 July 2020. Join us on a short trip down memory lane - on the way to the future.

At the beginning of 2013, Prof. Dr. Matthias S. Müller took over the management of the former Computing and Communication Center of RWTH Aachen University. In the course of this replacement, the name was changed to IT Center a little later, a short and easily remembered name with a corresponding logo.

At the same time, the website was also to be modernized as a channel of external communication. In addition to the changeover to the central content management system (CMS) of the RWTH Aachen University, this also included the division of the website into two areas:

  1. an image website in the CMS for primarily static, central information about the IT Center with target group oriented navigation and uniform presentation of all services offered, according to the service descriptions in the service catalogue and
  2. a documentation portal for current information that is subject to change (manuals, FAQs, configuration notes, announcements). This should also be aligned with the services of the IT Center.

It was important to ensure a uniform layout of both parts to the outside.

True to the motto that still applies today, "Preserving good things from the past and combining them with new things in such a way that the IT Center can master the challenges of the future", the documentation portal has now been revised and improved.

Feedback from the customer satisfaction survey, which has been conducted annually since 2014, also played an important role in the creation of the new website and the structuring of its content. Particular attention was also paid to user-friendliness and accessibility. The result is the new website IT Center Help. All information that is helpful for users of the IT Center's services is centrally maintained and made available there in a modern design.
