E-mails are often misused for spreading malware as well as for phishing attempts. You should therefore always critically check incoming emails with file attachments.

As of today, November 16th 2021, there will be a new IT Center protection mechanism that warns of e-mails with potentially dangerous file attachments. From now on, such emails will only be sent with a corresponding warning. The e-mail in question will no longer be sent directly to the recipients, but will be attached to an information e-mail. In this process, the subject of the original email is retained. In the information mail, the recipients are informed and warned about a potential threat from attached documents with active content, so-called macros. This minimizes the outbound risk from file attachments with macros.

You can find further information about protective measures for e-mails with macros on the IT Center blog.
