Project Management

In addition to the project manager, the project management team includes the leaders of work packages 1–4. Together, they ensure that the objectives of the individual work packages are implemented within HPC.nrw, aligned with those of the HPC state concept, and adjusted to them as necessary. Furthermore, the project coordination team ensures the proper and efficient use of funding. Another task is the preparation and support of collaboration with external bodies, in particular the AG HPC and the MKW.

In addition, central cross-functional tasks are handled by project management. These include, among other things, financial management with overarching financial planning, fund disbursements, and location-specific financial controlling within the network. Internal and external communication for the competence network is also coordinated, for example through website development, public relations, social media activities, and support for trade show and conference appearances. Another area of responsibility involves the network-wide procurement of central software licenses, for example for compilers, communication libraries, or development tools that are relevant for collaboration within the competence network and the use of HPC systems. These procurements are based on regular needs assessments within the network, such as user surveys, which provide insight into the requirements, usage patterns, and future needs of the HPC community in North Rhine-Westphalia.
