Disturbance of the Load Balancer on July 18 2017

We are happy to inform you that the disturbance has been corrected.

What happened?

Today, July 18, 2017, in the time from 9:30 am to 1 pm, there was a disturbance of the Load Balancer, which normally contributes to a balanced distribution of inquiries concerning our services.

In the event of a disturbance, the services in the background are not reachable in the worst case. Despite redundant dimensioning, it has come to a major disturbance in the specified time. This also affected our maintenance portal, which is usually used to inform you about such disturbances.

In addition to the malfunctioning maintenance portal, the following services were affected:

  • The central e-mail system
  • The documentation portal (www.doc.itc.rwth-aachen.de) of the IT Center
  • RWTH Single-Sign-On (Shibboleth)
  • Wireless LAN and VPN

We apologize for any inconvenience that may have occurred to you, and can assure that our colleagues have been working at full stretch to correct the problem at all times.
