After the temporary solution for the software shop, based on the AcadCloud product from SoftwareOne, had been in operation since March 2024, the new software shop from Academic Software will be launched in July 2025 as a long-term complete solution.
The interim solution had to be operated via two separate shops, one for employees and one for students. The two shops will now be replaced by a central software shop for A products. This will be available to all target groups from July 29, 2025. The Academic Software store will match the performance level of the current interim solution and will be gradually expanded with additional features:
- Option for students to purchase paid licenses directly through the software shop
- Introduction of new payment methods such as PayPal or credit card
- Integration of cloud licenses
- Comprehensive reporting and needs assessment for employees in IT ordering
Special Features When Purchasing B Products:
B products will be available in two ways in the future: For B products from the Microsoft Select Plus agreement, the interim shop from SoftwareOne will remain in place. Employees with the role “Bestellung IT” can purchase these products. Products from new framework agreements are expected to be integrated into the new software shop.
Place an Order
Employees can order software for use at RWTH institutions. The prerequisite is the role "Bestellung IT" and the specification of a PSP element in the order and payment process. Each organizational unit is also responsible for assigning the "Bestellung IT" role to one or more employees via role management.
Students can obtain software for use as part of their studies. The prerequisite is the status "Student" in the RWTH's Identity Management; no PSP elements need to be entered.
