As part of the Microsoft federal contract that RWTH Aachen has concluded with Microsoft, there have been license changes. The changes have resulted in new conditions that entail a reduction in storage space for the OneDrive and SharePoint Online services for students.

Since August 1, 2024, students have had considerably less storage space available to them. As a gesture of goodwill, Microsoft has provided a transitional solution so that the services and the associated storage space can continue to be used regularly until September 17, 2024.

However, RWTH Aachen University must comply with the new license requirements and implement them, so that from September 17, only the following maximum storage space will be available:

  • Personal OneDrive: 10 GB
  • SharePoint Online sites: 50 GB

For this reason, all students who are currently over the newly set storage limit must actively migrate and/or delete their data by the deadline.

All files created via Microsoft products, including OneNote notebooks, are affected.

All information on storage space reduction, migration instructions and alternative storage options can be found on IT Center Help.
