Software Asset Management serves the central and uniform administration of the software used at the university. This procedure is automated with the help of the MissMarple software. This enables a comparison of software procurements (commercial data) and installed software (technical data) and consequently serves to avoid under- or over-licensing. In this way, audit security can be guaranteed and cost savings achieved. It also provides an overview of the existing software data, which is automatically integrated from the software portal on the one hand and can be added manually by the institution on the other. This eliminates the need for time-consuming maintenance of Excel tables and creates technical transparency.
The software asset management tool MissMarple can be used by all facilities of RWTH Aachen University. To register your institution, please first contact the IT Service Desk. You are then welcome to make an appointment for a consultation (link expired).
Here you have the opportunity to ask questions about software asset management and receive information on the use of MissMarple.
