The IT Center has introduced a new central software shop for all RWTH members. Starting July 29, 2025, the RWTH Software Shop from Academic Software will be available to all target groups - institutions, employees, and students.
The reason for the change was the end of the collaboration with asknet Solutions AG in March 2024. During the transition period, SoftwareOne AG took over the supply of software via two separate interim shops, one for employees and one for students.
Now there is a central platform for all user groups. A-products are available there for employees and students. B-products, such as software from the Microsoft Select Plus agreement, will initially remain in the interim shop for employees.
The new Software Shop will correspond to the performance level of the interim solution and will be gradually expanded with additional functions:
- Option for students to purchase paid licenses directly through the software shop
- Introduction of new payment methods such as PayPal or credit card
- Integration of cloud licenses
- Comprehensive reporting and requirements assessment for employees in IT ordering
