03/03/2014

The IT Center was one of the first institutions in Germany to test the new 100 Gbps connection to the USA.

The German National Research and Education Network, DFN for short, has started operation of the first transatlantic connections between Germany and the United States, with a capacity of 100 gigabits per second. Thus DFN users had the chance to intensively test a 100 Gbps connection between Frankfurt am Main and New York. This connection is a result of the Advanced Northatlantic 100G cooperation.

The IT Center at RWTH Aachen, suppored by the company Cisco, was one of the first computing and communication centers to test the transatlantic connection together with Indiana University, USA.
