For security reasons, the IT Centre is updating Exchange 2016 to Exchange 2019. This will, among other things, ensure that this central infrastructure remains in the Microsoft update and support cycle. As a result of the expiry of the maintenance contract for the existing hardware, new Exchange machines were acquired. Along with the installation of this new hardware, the software update to Exchange 2019 took place simultaneously.
From the user's point of view, nothing will change in the Outlook Web App (OWA), the webmail service. Users also continue to log in in the same way using their user name and password. Nothing changes for users when using the local Outlook client either.
Changes are limited to the features of the administration area and are therefore not visible to users. As part of the update process, 500 mail domains and around 125,000 mailboxes were transferred to the new machines around mid-March.
