If you want to become a MATSE trainee, there are several stages to go through:
Now all the hurdles have been cleared: You're ready to go!
A new class starts the dual MATSE program in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science every September 1. You will receive all the information you need by mail.
After completing your dual degrees, you can continue your education... but that's the future!
With training as a mathematical-technical software developer, you will be more than “just” a programmer.
Mathematics and computer science are at the heart of the training. You will put the theoretical knowledge you have learned into practice by finding solutions to problems. MATSEs often develop these solutions against a scientific background. The training program to become a mathematical-technical software developer lasts three years, but can be shortened to two and a half years if your grades are particularly good. However, this is only possible in consultation with the training company.
Our MATSE team shot a short video for the Aachen Online Apprenticeship Fair to represent RWTH Aachen University as the largest training provider in the Aachen region.
Training as a mathematical-technical software developer offers you the advantage of practical learning. You will quickly become involved in projects at your training company and be assigned your own projects at an early stage, enabling you to independently apply the theory you have learned in practice at your training company. It is precisely this high practical component of your training that makes MATSEs highly sought after on the job market. The chances of being hired by the training companies are also very high, meaning that you can start your career immediately after successfully completing your training.
What makes MATSE training in Aachen, Cologne, and Jülich special is that It is offered as a training-integrated degree program. This means that, in addition to your training as a mathematical-technical software developer, you have the opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. This offers you the advantage of obtaining two degrees in three years: the IHK degree and the Bachelor of Science!
After successfully completing your training and studies, you also have the option of starting a master's degree program. For more information on career prospects after MATSE training, see Future as a MATSE.
