ELN@RWTH (Electronic Lab Notebook)

ELN@RWTH is a central electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) for members of RWTH Aachen University, affiliated institutes, and cooperation partners. It enables research results and other relevant information to be digitally recorded and managed.

The ELN@RWTH service is provided by the open-source solution eLabFTW, which is hosted as software-as-a-service by the French company Deltablot.

eLabFTW is primarily used for documenting research. This includes experimental planning, conducting experiments, steps for processing and analyzing results, and the equipment and tools used in your laboratory.

Functional Scope of eLabFTW

In addition to basic documentation of laboratory data, eLabFTW allows you to easily link elements within the ELN, copy entries, and attach data. You can also share your work with others in your laboratory—or, if you wish, beyond.

Furthermore, eLabFTW can be connected to other tools via interfaces using its REST API. This allows you to automate workflows to and from the ELN.

eLabFTW cannot process or analyze experimental data, as this is not the purpose of the software.

Details About the Software

eLabFTW is a highly flexible, domain-independent electronic laboratory notebook known for its robust support infrastructure and transparent open-source development philosophy. In addition, a large, Germany-wide community has established itself in recent years.
